When you live on an island, it's hard to find a village.

We lived on Kauai, a tiny rock in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, and the most remote inhabited place in the world.

That's where I gave birth naturally, and where I struggled to find a sense of community, which every new mama goes through.

It's partly what spurred my writing, Meditations for Mamas.
